Over the past decade, I've been honing in on what I want most in my life. A common theme throughout the years has lead me toward living more simply. Part of my simple living routine involves making my own products, including body scrubs. Below is a simple sea salt body scrub that is still luscious in its simplicity!

I love the sweetness of the citrus combined with the earthiness of the sea salt in this body scrub.

Sweet & Salty Scrub

1 cup sea salt

1/4 cup coconut oil

1/4 cup almond oil

20 drops of essential oil (orange or grapefruit)

For the sea salt, you can use 1 type of sea salt (e.g., white sea salt) or a blend (e.g., 1/2 white sea salt and 1/2 Hawaiian Alaea sea salt -- reddish in color). Feel free to use any type of sea salt that you wish.

For the oil, you can use whatever oil you have on-hand, but I tend to use coconut oil, almond oil, or a blend of the two. If you live in a colder climate, your coconut oil will harden. Place your glass jar in a shallow bowl of hot water to gently warm up the coconut oil before using.

For the essential oils, you can use any scents that you like. For this recipe, I really like the sweet scent of orange or grapefruit (both scents tend to enhance joy and happiness).

To use your scrub -- place a towel on the floor, spoon a small amount into the palm of your hand, and begin to scrub your feet and legs. I scrub from the bottom and then move up to the torso, arms, hands, and neck. Let the oils blend into the body and skin for a little while before you shower off. After you shower, gently towel off and enjoy your smooth, soft, glowing skin!

Have fun making your body scrubs and unleash your inner creativity!
