Sometimes our regular at home yoga practices can become a little stale. We might do the same poses in the same routine. What once felt like a gem of a routine now feels ... well, a bit boring. 


So, what do I do when my practice begins to feel less than amazing?


I bring a little *magic* into my yoga practice. 


Mudras and Mantras can bring magic to your everyday practice.


As you stand at the top of your mat, feet hip distance apart, palms pressed together at your heart imagine that you are surrounded by sparkles. Take a slow, deep inhalation and a slow, deep exhalation. Then, release your palms so that your palms are facing forward. 

Bring your pointer finger to touch your thumb (right pointer finger touches right thumb; left pointer finger touches left thumb) and chant 'om shanti' as they touch. Imagine peaceful sparkles.

Bring your middle finger to touch your thumb (right middle finger touches right thumb, etc.) and chant 'om shanti' as they touch.

Bring your ring finger to touch your thumb (right ring finger touches right thumb, etc.) and chant 'om shanti' as they touch.

Bring your pinkie finger to touch your thumb (right pinkie finger touches right thumb, etc.) and chant 'om shanti' as they touch.

And then reverse -- Bring your pinkie finger to touch your thumb (right pinkie finger touches right thumb, etc.) and chant 'om shanti' as they touch.

Bring your ring finger to touch your thumb (right ring finger touches right thumb, etc.) and chant 'om shanti' as they touch.

Bring your middle finger to touch your thumb (right middle finger touches right thumb, etc.) and chant 'om shanti' as they touch.

Bring your pointer finger to touch your thumb (right pointer finger touches right thumb, etc.) and chant 'om shanti' as they touch. 

Imagine peaceful sparkles surrounding you.


This mudra series balances all five elements: fire, air, ether, earth, and water.


You can also continue to blend 'om shanti' throughout your practice by saying/chanting/singing 'om shanti' with each asana.
